For the Great North Passion event broadcast live by the BBC from Bents Park, South Shields on Good Friday, Tees Valley Arts, the arts development agency based in Middlesbrough, created two pieces of interlinked work representing the theme of ‘compassion’. Musician and specialist refugee arts worker, Maurice Dezou worked with a group of women of African origin to create a new hymn.

Harambee Pasadia North East: 2nd Annual Afrobeats Music & Camping Festival is a family extravaganza in celebration of diverse cultures, foods, music, artists, and the fusions of the African diaspora. We are committed to engage festival attendees through a wide range of arts, including music, dance, and workshops representing the diversity of styles and cultural influences. It is a weekend full of cultural and educational experiences for the whole family, which brings together local and national musicians, dancers, wellbeing experts, cultural practitioners, and food vendors to create an atmosphere that celebrates the African Diaspora in the North East.

Performances from: Hannabiell & Midnight Blue, Too Spicy, Nansady Keita, Drummed Up, Backyard Rythm Orchestra, Ladies of Midnight Blue, Filhos de Bimba, 10th Avenue, Afsumu Blue, More to be confirmed…

Other attractions: Friday evening will be an evening filled with films and DJs.

Workshops running during the day Saturday and Sunday: African Drumming, African Dance, Drum Circle, Salsa Dancing, Koduru Dancing, B-Boy, African-American Step Dancing, Capoeira.

Wellbeing: Massage sessions, Braiding, Skin Care

Along with Food Vendors,Guided forest/beach walks, Arts & Crafts, Games for Kids, and much more.
